Welcome
to Stuart Middle School where we embrace
diversity while developing a respect for learning and appreciation for academic
excellence. Our goal is to provide quality instruction to ensure that our
students are readied for success in the future. We are very proud to be a
5-Star School and to be an “A” rated school by the Florida
Department of Education for the past eight years. Our school offers a
variety of academic programs with interactive and lively related arts
courses.
It’s almost time to shop for school
clothes! We at Stuart Middle School want you to be up-to-date with the Dress
Code that was newly adopted in the Martin
County School
District’s Student Conduct and Discipline
Code. Some of the changes are
significant and we want to clarify the changes so that you can make informed
choices as you purchase school clothes.
The following are changes
for Stuart Middle School Jaguars:
- Skirts, “skorts”
and dresses can be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee.
- Shorts can be no shorter than 4
inches above the knee.
- Shirts must have collars, sleeves,
and be tucked in. If loops are present on the waist band, a belt must be
worn.
- Clothing that exposes cleavage or
midriff is not allowed.
- Pants or shorts must not be baggy or
oversized and the hem of the pant leg must not drag on the ground. Pants
must be worn at the hipbone or higher.
- Shoes must have heel straps or be
enclosed like “sneakers” and may not have “built in
containers” or “skate wheels”.
- Tattoos that are visible are a
distraction and not allowed.
- Backpack or book bags are not
necessary, but we encourage the use of the mesh or clear variety.
Please add these
changes to the notification that your student received last year by word and
publication in the newsletter, both here at SMS and at our
“feeder” elementary schools. Call 219-1685 for further
clarification.
I encourage you to peruse our web site and
contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for visiting. Go Jaguars!
